Miso Hoisin Paneer

Serves 4

Ready in 22 mins

Sticky, sweet, salty and a little bit spicy. These crispy paneer bites are coated in a glossy miso hoisin sauce and finished with spring onions and sesame seeds. The ultimate picky bit for sharing and actually a crowd pleaser although Aunty wouldn't blame you for keeping them all to yourself.

Ingredients

  • For the paneer:
    • 2 packs (400g) All The Aunties Cumin, Chilli & Turmeric Paneer, cubed
    • 3 tbsp cornflour
    • 1 tsp ground cumin
    • ½ tsp chilli powder
    • 2 tbsp neutral oil, for frying
  • For the miso hoisin sauce:
    • 2 tbsp soy sauce
    • 3 tbsp hoisin sauce
    • 1 tbsp honey
    • Juice of ½ lime
    • 1 tbsp white miso paste
    • ½ tsp freshly ground black pepper
    • 1 to 2 tsp chilli oil, to taste
    • 3 tbsp water
  • To finish:
    • 2 spring onions, finely sliced
    • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
    • Extra chilli oil (optional)

Method

  1. Make the sauce: In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, lime juice, miso paste, black pepper, chilli oil and water until smooth and combined. Set aside.
  2. Coat the paneer: In a separate bowl, mix together the cornflour, ground cumin and chilli powder. Add the cubed All The Aunties Cumin, Chilli & Turmeric Paneer and toss with your hands until every piece is evenly coated.
  3. Fry the paneer: Heat the neutral oil in a large non-stick frying pan over a medium-high heat. Add the paneer cubes in a single layer and fry for 5 to 7 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden and crispy on all sides. Cook in batches if necessary.
  4. Add the sauce: Reduce the heat to medium-low and pour the miso hoisin sauce over the crispy paneer. Toss gently for 1 to 2 minutes until the sauce has warmed through, thickened slightly and coats every piece in a glossy glaze. Add a splash of water if it becomes too thick.
  5. Finish: Transfer the sticky paneer bites to a serving plate and scatter generously with sliced spring onions and sesame seeds.
  6. Serve: Finish with an extra drizzle of chilli oil if you like a little more heat. Serve warm with cocktail sticks for the ultimate sharing snack.
